About the Board: The advisory board serves to aid the Drug & Alcohol Commission, the agency responsible for the development of substance abuse services in Lancaster County and the distribution of funding to support those services. The board assists in prioritizing the services and overall mission of the Drug & Alcohol Commission. Recommendations from this Board are presented to the County Commissioners, who consider the citizens’ commendations and then decide on a course of action. The board also advises on the purchase of drug and alcohol prevention, intervention, and education programs in local schools and neighborhoods.
The board consists of 7 to 17 members appointed by the Lancaster County Commissioners. Commission members shall have no financial interest in an agency contracting for services with the County. Board members of Commission subcontracting agencies shall not serve as members of the Drug and Alcohol Commission.
