The County Commissioners unanimously voted to approve $200,000 of County American Rescue Act (ARPA) funds to assist with the upgrading and expansion of LSC Public Safety Camera System. The project, begun in 2020, will replace and upgrade every camera and technical component of the LSC system, add 20-30 new camera locations, improve operations through new software integration, and connect new and existing unconnected cameras to the city fiber network to enhance their functionality.
This project benefits the Lancaster community by positively impacting public safety through, modernizing technology to assist law enforcement and public planning through video evidence and traffic counts, and connecting and leveraging next-generation fiber infrastructure.
