Covered Bridges
Lancaster County has a rich history regarding our covered bridges. Many of these bridges have historical significance that dates back in to the mid 1800's. Over the years, our bridges have been rebuilt using construction methods similar to those from over 150 years ago in order to maintain their unique charm and historically accurate designs. You will find our covered bridges still using a wooden superstructure, the large wooden arches and the famous roof to cover and protect their wooden decks.
Lancaster County is very proud of our covered bridges and we are committed to keeping this piece of our history alive for future generations.
Below is a list of our covered bridges with some information on the roadways that they carry and which picturesque waterways they cross. We hope as you travel our roadways that you enjoy our covered brides as much as we do.
If you stop for a quick picture, please be careful and be aware of your surroundings as all of our covered bridges are open to public travel.
Our bridges are named using the body of water that they span and are consecutively numbered starting at the furthest point on the eastern end of the county near the headwaters and then traveling down stream toward the Susquehanna River.
