[ARCHIVED] Man Serving Decades for Shooting Lancaster Girl 10 Years Ago Denied Relief

A man serving up to 60 years for shooting a Lancaster girl ten years ago – in a drug-turf feud – will not get relief, an appeals court ruled.

Brandon L. McPherson, now 34, was convicted at trial of opening fire Jan. 4, 2007, at Beaver and Andrew streets in Lancaster, apparently at rival drug dealers.

Seven-year-old Brianna Pratt, walking with her mother, was struck in the back. She recovered after life-saving surgery and months in hospitals.

McPherson, convicted of attempted murder and other charges, was sentenced to 25 to 60 years in prison.

He recently requested relief from that sentence, arguing he should not have been sentenced to consecutive prison terms on charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault.

The Pennsylvania Superior Court recently denied that request, finding that McPherson’s request is more than three years too late to be considered.

McPherson, known on the street at the time of the shooting as “B-More,” was convicted, along with a co-defendant, Angel Serrano. A third man, Maleak Gray, was convicted of providing the gun.

Trial testimony indicated McPherson and Serrano targeted drug dealers who were on their turf.

Serrano is serving a 22-to-44-year term.

Lancaster city police Det. Capt. Michael Winters filed charges.
