A Millersville man was convicted Wednesday in Lancaster County Court of numerous charges regarding sexual abuse of two girls.

The local jury returned guilty verdicts against 82-year-old Joseph J. Madonna Jr. to 15 total charges, including 13 felonies, one being rape of a child.

The panel deliberated for about 90 minutes Wednesday before deciding the case about 1:30 p.m.

County Judge Howard Knisely, who presided over the case, will order sentence after a background check is completed in about 3 months.

Madonna is at Lancaster County Prison on $2 million bail.

Assistant District Attorney Fritz Haverstick presented evidence during the 3-day trial regarding abuse against two girls at two locations, in Manor Township and Millersville Borough.

The abuse went on for about 8 years, beginning in 2007 when the girls were pre-teens.

Madonna was an acquaintance of the girls’ families.

The abuse happened at Madonna’s former home in Manor Township and in his home and a vehicle in Millersville.

The victims testified at trial; Madonna also took the stand, according to Haverstick.

Manor Township police Detective Tricia Mazur and Millersville Borough police Detective Jason Scott filed charges.
