An East Donegal Township man is charged with homicide regarding the Saturday shooting of his 89-year-old father-in-law.
Clifford Allen Hafer, 65, is charged with a count of criminal homicide.
Susquehanna Regional police Sgt. Jason Smith charged Hafer Sunday morning with shooting John Teffeteller multiple times Saturday night at Hafer's home on South River Street.
Assistant District Attorney Christine Wilson approved the filing of the charge.
Hafer was arraigned Sunday and remanded to Lancaster County Prison without bail.
He is presumed innocent.
Teffeteller had moved in with Hafer in the last week. Teffeteller, the father of Hafer's deceased wife, previously lived in Waynesboro.
Hafer called 911 Saturday night about 8:24 p.m. and reported he had shot Teffeteller.
Police took Hafer into custody without incident.
In the home, police found Teffeteller deceased in the kitchen with multiple gunshot wounds.
Police also found Teffeteller's dog deceased, with a gunshot wound, in a hallway.
A handgun believed to be used in the shootings was recovered.
The investigation is ongoing.
Susquehanna Regional police were assisted in the investigation by the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office.
At this point, it would be inappropriate to release additional details about what led to the shooting due to the active investigation.
Information and evidence gathered so far indicates this was a domestic incident and no others were at the home when the shootings happened.
Hafer was taken into custody within minutes of the 911 call.
The shooting scene also was secured at that point.
