On Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, jury convicted Robert D. Dixon of Aggravated Assault (F2) and Simple Assault (M2) for his violent acts upon his former girlfriend. The jury acquitted Dixon of Burglary and two counts of Simple Assault.
Incident occurred night of May 28, 2013 in Lancaster City. Charges were filed by Officer Mark C. Gehron and follow-up investigation was completed by County Detective Larry Martin. Dr. Christopher Fox, an ER physician at LGH, testified for the Commonwealth, describing the shoulder separation that the Defendant caused the victim to suffer when he tried to strangle (this was the Simple Assault conviction). The Aggravated Assault conviction arose from the Defendant’s actions with a kitchen knife, holding it to the victim’s throat and giving her a superficial cut on her hand.
Judge Miller ordered a Pre-Sentence Investigation. Judge Miller revoked bail and reset bail at $1 million. The Defendant remained in incarceration, where he has been since he was arrested on the charges shortly after the incident.
Assistant District Attorney James Reeder is prosecuting the case.
