An Elizabethtown man will serve at least a decade in prison for repeated sexual abuse of a girl, who he knew was 13 at the time of the crimes.
David Richard Ringer, 29, pleaded guilty to six felonies and a misdemeanor regarding abuse at two locations in Elizabethtown from October 2014 to January 2015.
Ringer will serve 10 to 20 years, followed by 5 years of probation, in accordance with a plea agreement arranged by Assistant District Attorney Karen Mansfield.
Lancaster County Judge James Cullen ordered the sentence, which includes a requirement that Ringer register his whereabouts with police, under Megan’s Law, for the rest of his life.
In late 2014, a relative tipped off police to the illegal contact between Ringer and the girl.
Investigators discovered more than 1,000 phone calls and messages between Ringer and the girl.
Police also found written letters with evidence that Ringer knew the girl’s age. The girl told police Ringer knew her age.
The victim told police and social workers there was sexual contact several times a week.
Elizabethtown police Detective Shane Deardorff filed charges.
