Just after midnight on December 5, 2012, Defendant Daniel Mentzer was clocked by Officer Gimasuackas driving at 143MPH in a 55 MPH zone heading south on Willow Street Pike/ Rt. 272. Defendant admitted to officers that he had been drinking and was speeding through Pequea Township to avoid police detection because he had been previously stopped by Southern Regional Police regarding a headlight that was out and he had failed to repair it. Defendant failed field sobriety testing and was subsequently arrested, charged with DUI, Reckless Driving and Speeding and convicted.
Mr. Mentzer was found guilty on DUI, Reckless Driving, and Speeding. He was sentenced to 6 months of probation with $701 in fines and costs.
Assistant District Attorney Kevin McGarry prosecuted the case.
