A Lancaster city man will serve up to a decade in prison for breaking into a home last year and masturbating in the presence of sleeping occupants.
Ronald Vertis McKinney pleaded guilty Thursday in Lancaster County Court to burglary, indecent exposure and open lewdness regarding the Aug. 16 incident in the 700 block of West Vine Street.
McKinney, 33, will serve 5 to 10 years in state prison, in accordance with a plea agreement arranged by Assistant District Attorney Karen Mansfield. County Judge Howard Knisely accepted the pleas and ordered sentence.
McKinney broke into a rear bathroom window and went through the apartment – occupied by a man, a woman, and two young children – while masturbating.
The occupants awoke to McKinney performing the lewd act and he fled, Mansfield told the judge.
No contact is alleged.
One of the occupants identified McKinney, from a group of photographs, as the intruder.
McKinney lived in the 600 block of High Street, about two blocks from the apartment.
He is prohibited from having contact with any of the victims, and he must comply with conditions for sex offenders, including counseling and treatment.
Lancaster city police Detective Jimmy Mummau filed charges.
