[ARCHIVED] Ex-Student on Probation, Megan’s Law List for Sharing Nude Photos of Teen

An Elizabethtown man was recently sentenced in Lancaster County Court for sharing nude photos of an underage girl while he was a student at Lancaster Catholic High School.

Police charged Joseph E. Barone with requesting and sharing nude photos of others students, along with a lewd photo of himself, earlier this year.

Barone paid other individuals to provide him nude photos; he then shared those with other acquaintances for a fee.

Barone, now 19, pleaded guilty in November to felony counts of possessing child pornography and criminal use of a cellphone, and a misdemeanor count of corruption of minors.

Police identified one female victim, who was a 16-year-old student.

County Judge Joseph Madenspacher recently ordered Barone serve 3 years of probation and register his whereabouts with police, under Megan’s Law, for the next 15 years.

Assistant District Attorney Janie Swinehart prosecuted the case.

A count of disseminating child pornography was dropped, in exchange for Barone’s plea to the other charges.

Manheim Township police Detective Sarah Goss filed charges in March.
