A Lancaster city teen will serve up to 12 years in state prison for an armed robbery outside a city barbershop.
Jimmy Pierre, 17, pointed a gun at two students after they got their hair cut March 23 in a shop at King and Broad streets.
Pierre and Joan Rodriguez-Taveras were in the shop and noticed the two victims had cash and cellphones. Outside, Pierre robbed them of those items; Rodriguez-Taveras served as getaway driver.
Pierre pleaded guilty Tuesday to felony robbery and illegal possession of a firearm in exchange for a 5.5-to-12-year prison sentence.
Pierre has a prior conviction for burglary and was a minor, making it illegal for him to have a gun. He was charged in the robbery as an adult because a deadly weapon (the gun) was displayed.
Rodriguez-Taveras, 18, pleaded guilty Tuesday and will be sentenced after a background check is completed in a couple months. He told Lancaster city police he got $6 from the robbery.
Lancaster County Judge Jeffery Wright will sentence Rodriguez-Taveras as well.
Assistant District Attorney Maria Cusick is prosecuting the case.
Lancaster city police Detective Michael Gerace filed charges.
