A jury has been selected to hear the homicide case regarding a young Lancaster city father’s January death.
The panel will decide the fate of Stefon Landing, charged with shooting 22-year-old Devontte Gant Jan. 4 on a city street.
Opening statements will begin Monday afternoon, to be followed by the first witnesses called in the case.
Lancaster County President Judge Dennis Reinaker is presiding.
Assistant District Attorneys Mark Fetterman and Maria Cusick are prosecuting the case.
Gantt, a father of four, was killed in the High Street shooting; 22-year-old Amos Clay was shot in the leg.
Regarding the shootings, Clay told police:
The three men met in the 700 block and High Street where Landing shot Gantt. Clay then pulled out a gun and returned fire, shooting Landing. Clay was shot in the leg.
Gantt was found dead in a backyard on the block. Police found Clay wounded. Landing went to a local hospital with a torso wound.
Lancaster city police Detective Nathan Nickel filed charges.
