[ARCHIVED] Father Jailed for Leaving 4 Kids Under 4 Home Alone in Lancaster City

Tyrell Boyer

A Lancaster city father will serve at least a year in prison for leaving his four children – all under age 5 – home alone while he went to a friend’s house.

Tyrell Boyer was recently ordered to serve one to two years in Lancaster County Prison for leaving the kids alone Sept. 13, 2014, while their mother was at work.

A neighbor called police after finding a 2-year-old boy, who left the house, wandering alone on Rockland Street.
Police determined Boyer left the children alone in a family room and moved a washing machine so they couldn’t get into the kitchen. Boyer told police he was gone an hour or two.

Boyer admitted in Lancaster County Court to misdemeanor counts of endangering children in exchange for the sentence.

Upon release, Boyer is required to comply with all Children & Youth demands and complete parenting classes.

Assistant District Attorney Todd Kriner prosecuted the case.

Lancaster city police Detective Robert Deeter filed charges.

Boyer also has a pending case regarding felony gun possession.
