An Ephrata motorist was convicted in Lancaster County Court of causing a highway crash when he chased another driver last year on Route 222.
A local jury recently convicted 34-year-old Gregory Graybill of eight counts of reckless endangerment regarding the eight people – including four children - he put at risk in the Oct. 3 crash.
Graybill, who faces a maximum 16-year prison term, will be sentenced by Lancaster County Judge Joseph Madenspacher after a background check is completed.
Graybill, feeling he was cut off by another driver on Route 222 North, chased after the other driver, yelled and beeped his horn at the other driver.
Witnesses told police Graybill’s vehicle then took a hard right turn into the other driver’s vehicle. They reported it appeared to be an intentional act of road rage.
The impact caused the other vehicle to veer across the median, into southbound traffic, where it struck another vehicle, before coming to rest in a ditch.
No one was hurt, according to Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Ponessa-Hundley, who won the conviction.
Graybill had his wife and three young children in the car; the victim had his stepson and 3-year-old grandson his car.
Graybill was acquitted of criminal mischief, regarding the allegation that Graybill intentionally caused the crash.
