JustinMayfield

A registered sex offender was recently jailed up to 30 years for his second conviction of illegal contact with a child.

Justin M. Mayfield, 37, pleaded guilty to several felonies, including unlawful contact with a minor and failure to register under Megan’s Law, regarding the crimes in 2017.

Mayfield sexually abused a girl between June and September 2017 at a location in East Earl Township. Mayfield moved to California after the conduct and being charged; he was arrested by police there on Dec. 6, 2017.

Mayfield will serve 15 to 30 years in prison, in accordance with a plea agreement arranged by Assistant District Attorney Janie Swinehart.

Mayfield admitted to police to having unlawful contact with the girl. He also pleaded guilty to sending a lewd photo to the girl.

In addition to the contact with the girl, Mayfield was charged with moving to California and leaving his job without notifying police, as required by Megan’s Law.

Lancaster County Judge David Ashworth accepted the plea terms and ordered sentence. Mayfield must register his whereabouts, under Megan’s Law, for the rest of his life.

East Earl Township police and Pennsylvania State Police filed charges.
