Two men pleaded guilty Friday in Lancaster County Court regarding the 2015 killing of 30-year-old Edward Cameron – their charges resulting from a grand jury session.
Niziere J. Dean, 22, and Kyaire Thompson-Brown, 19, were shackled together in court when they stood before Lancaster County Judge Donald Totaro to enter guilty pleas to third-degree murder and conspiracy.
The men will each serve 15 to 30 years in prison, in accordance with a plea agreement. Judge Totaro accepted the terms and ordered sentence.
First Assistant District Attorney Christopher P. Larsen said in court that Dean and Brown were two of three people who opened fire on Cameron on Sept. 7, 2015, in the 600 block of East Mifflin Street.
The subpoena powers of a grand jury provided valuable testimony about what took place.
"The committed effort of this grand jury led directly to charges, and now convictions, hopefully bringing a sense of closure to the victim's survivors," Lancaster County District Attorney Craig Stedman said.
Individuals told police Cameron was shot at close range, after a feud earlier in the night, at the Rainmaker’s Club at 700 East Chestnut St.
Police determined Dean fired a 9mm pistol, Thompson-Brown fired a .22-caliber pistol, and Rahdir Maxton (who was killed two days later) fired a .45-caliber pistol. Shell casings of those calibers were recovered at the scene.
