A Lancaster man was recently convicted of attempting to use a phony $20 bill for a meal at a Manheim Township Burger King.
Lancaster County President Judge Dennis E. Reinaker convicted 24-year-old Joshua Marti of felony forgery following an afternoon trial on Dec. 20.
Assistant District Attorney Cody Wade presented evidence that Marti attempted to pay for his order with the phony bill at a drive-thru of Burger King at 1408 Lititz Pike on May 8, 2018.
After rendering a verdict, President Judge Reinaker sentenced Marti to two years of probation along with a $100 fine and court costs.
The Burger King clerk became suspicious of the bill and questioned it, which led to a manager responding. Marti pulled his hood over his head, but the manager recognized him.
Marti asked for the bill back, was denied, and eventually paid for his order with a genuine $20 bill.
The manager reported the incident to Manheim Township police, who filed charges.
