A Pequea Township man was recently convicted of sex abuse of a pre-teen girl in 2015 and 2016.
A Lancaster County jury convicted 49-year-old William Bonny Smith of seven felonies regarding crimes at his home on Willow Street Pike North.
Assistant District Attorney Jennifer L. Ponessa presented evidence at the three-day trial, including testimony from the victim, who was eight when the crimes started in June 2015.
The jury deliberated for about an hour before deciding the case Wednesday afternoon.
Lancaster County Judge David Ashworth, who presided over the trial, will order sentence after a background check is completed in a couple months.
Smith is at Lancaster County on $500,000 bail.
In all, Smith was convicted of attempted rape of a child, attempted involuntary deviate sexual intercourse of a child, indecent assault of a child (three counts), unlawful contact with a child, and corruption of minors.
Southern Regional police Detective Sgt. Robert Burger, who filed charges, also testified.
