A Carlisle man was convicted Wednesday of sexually assaulting a woman, while she was sleeping, at her Lancaster city home in 2016.

A Lancaster County jury returned guilty verdicts against Joshua West to four felony counts regarding the Feb. 14, 2016, incident at a College Avenue home.

West, 24, was convicted of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse – a first-degree felony – and three second-degree felonies. West will be sentenced after a background check is completed in a couple months.

Assistant District Attorney Fritz Haverstick, who won the conviction, presented evidence during the two-day trial that West assaulted the woman as she was asleep in her bed.

The jury deliberated for about two hours, over two days, before deciding the case Wednesday morning at 9:15 a.m.

Lancaster County President Judge Dennis Reinaker, who presided over the trial, will order sentence.

Lancaster city police Officer Matthew Odenthal filed charges.
