Permit Requirements:
 
A building and/or zoning permit shall be required whenever an owner or occupant of a property intends to alter, change or commence a particular use of a property or structure, or to erect, construct, alter, extend, replace, relocate, demolish or convert any building or structure.  A permit is required for a repair when the repair involves the repair or replacement of a weight-bearing component such as a support post, roof rafter or truss and also for any non-agricultural fence.
 
A permit is NOT required for window and door replacements of the identical size, residential re-roofing not requiring joist or truss replacements, and for the replacement or installation of siding.
 
The Township's building code requires a permit for all proposals involving changes, additions, or modifications to plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and/or structural components of a building or structure.
  
Application for Permits:
 
All permit applications shall be accompanied by the following information, as applicable:
 
 1.    The dimensions and shape of the lot to be built upon. 
 2.      
The location and dimensions (length & width) of all existing buildings on the lot
 3. The location and dimensions (length, width, & height) of all proposed buildings or additions to buildings and off-street parking and/or loading facilities.
 4.
 
Two sets of all plans and supportive documentation as may be required by the Zoning Ordinance and Building Code for residential uses and uses accessory to residential uses, and three sets of all plans and supportive documentation as may be required by the Zoning Ordinance and Building Code for all other uses (i.e. commercial, industrial, mult-family residential).
 5.
 
The setback dimensions for all proposed buildings or additions to buildings, measured from the side and rear property lines and the abutting street centerline.  
 6.
The location of sanitary sewer and water supply facilities.  
 7. A statement indicating the existing and proposed use. 
 8. A sewer permit and/or water permit. 
 9.
 
A completed driveway permit application when proposing a driveway that would intersect an existing Township road.
 10.
 
An approved PaDOT Highway Occupancy Permit when proposing a driveway that would intersect a public road under the jurisdiction of PaDOT.
 
Permit applications may be obtained at the Township office during regular business hours between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The applications are also available on this website. Missing or incorrect information with the application will result in unnecessary processing delays and possibly a disapproved permit application.
