A building and/or zoning permit shall be required whenever an owner or occupant of a property intends to alter, change or commence a particular use of a property or structure, or to erect, construct, alter, extend, replace, relocate, demolish or convert any building or structure. A permit is required for a repair when the repair involves the repair or replacement of a weight-bearing component such as a support post, roof rafter or truss and also for any non-agricultural fence.
A permit is NOT required for window and door replacements of the identical size, residential re-roofing not requiring joist or truss replacements, and for the replacement or installation of siding.
