Applications for a birth certificate request are available at the Office of the Register of Wills on the 2nd floor of the Lancaster County Courthouse and many fast service agencies or messenger services. Can I place an order by phone? You can call the Department of Vital Records at 1-877-724-3258 for information about birth certificate ordering. Can I place an order online? Yes, visit one of the following websites: WWW.HEALTH.STATE.PA.US/VITALRECORDS A service charge bill be added to your bill, but your birth certificate will arrive within one week. It will take about two weeks if you order your birth certifcate from a fast service agency or messenger service. Can I get a birth certificate the same day? If the birth certificate you are requesting is dated from 1921 to the present, it is possible to get it the same day by going to the Health and Welfare Building in Harrisburg, Room 129. That is located at the corner of 7th and Forster Streets in Harrisburg. For directions, call (717)772-3481. Remember, this is for same day service for birth certificates dated 1921 to present.
