The following information is being provided for downtown traffic impacts as a result of construction activity in the City of Lancaster. Orange Street (Entire City Limits) Utility Upgrades, Curb Ramps, and Paving Work Utility crews are currently finalizing work on underground facilities. PennDOT's contractors have commenced the resurfacing project. Upcoming work includes tree trimming, concrete curbing and curb ramps, and stormwater improvements. This work will be ongoing for several months throughout Summer 2013. The contractors have started on East Orange (at Broad Street), and will work their way west towards College Avenue throughout the summer. Intermittent lane restrictions and parking restrictions will apply on Orange Street as the work progresses. This project should be completed in August 2013, when final roadway resurfacing of Orange Street is expected to occur. Motorists are advised to exercise caution through work zones, and pay attention to work zone signage, as traffic patterns will shift regularly throughout the project. Lititz Pike Bridge Replacement and Realignment Bridge Replacement, Intersection Modifications, and Traffic Changes PennDOT's contractors are working on the Lititz Pike Bridge Replacement Project. This project will replace a structurally-deficient bridge over the Amtrak line in the northeastern quadrant of the City. Upon completion, the new bridge will align Lititz Pike with North Duke Street. New Holland Pike/New Holland Avenue/North Plum Street Resurfacing (Route 23) Utility Work, Curb Ramps, Stormwater Upgrades, and Roadway Resurfacing Utility companies will continue their underground utility upgrades in advance of PennDOT’s resurfacing project. Utility work is expected to be completed in Summer 2013. Contractors for PennDOT will begin stormwater and concrete curb ramp work in late-Summer 2013. Final roadway milling and paving is anticipated to occur in Spring 2014. Marion Street, at North Duke Street City Hall Renovation and Expansion project Contractors for the City of Lancaster are currently installing exterior and facade elements for the new City Hall Expansion. The project generally consists of an 18,000 square foot expansion to the west of the existing City Hall facility, followed by selective renovations to the existing facility. The work requires the closure of Marion Street (between Duke and Christian) for approximately one year, until fall 2013. The 100 block of North Duke Street will be intermittently reduced to one lane as utility work and other work is performed on this project. Motorists are advised to exercise caution through work zones. The project is scheduled for completion in Spring 2014. E. Grant & N. Christian Streets Fulton Bank Headquarters Expansion Contractors for Fulton Bank are currently working on demolition of the former Sovereign Bank and other structures on the 000 block of East King Street. The 000 block of North Christian Street (King to Grant) is closed for the duration of this project, and the 000 block of East Grant Street (Duke to Christian) will experience intermittent closures and long-term lane/travel restrictions. Currently, East Grant Street is restricted to local business and Courthouse business only. Following demolition, Fulton's contractors will be erecting an 8-story building to expand their corporate headquarters located on Penn Square.
