{Mayor}
Dear Residents,
It’s with great pleasure that I write the first of many greetings as your Mayor. 2010 will mark a year of new things in addition to a new borough leadership team: an expanded East Petersburg Day program, spring car show, “First Saturdays” music in the park, a regular farmers market and much more! Our town is bursting with events, organizations, churches and opportunities to get involved that are unprecedented in our history. Far from a “bedroom community,” East Pete is a true town center within Lancaster County.
I’d like to take this space to also recognize the efforts of all the community volunteers who make East Pete happen - The Bulldogs, Frogs & Pirates, the clubs and churches & the fire company. Not to mention all the citizen volunteers and our great borough staff. Because of the work of all these who are too many to mention here, East Petersburg is a vibrant place to live. And I would also ask you if you’d be willing to help out in 2010? A great place to start is with the East Petersburg Day committee, which meets the third Wednesday of every month at 7pm in the Borough office to plan many of the events mentioned in this note. We’d love to have you, and I can guarantee you’ll make new friends and meet a few new neighbors in the process of giving to our great town.
While we’re on the subject of giving back, I’d like to thank my predecessor, Gary Spangenburg. Over 12 years he directed the borough through many challenges and has left us with a profoundly better place to live. It’s my goal to put forth the best effort in the coming four years in order to build upon his success with integrity and professionalism.
As I read once on a sign along the road “Work where you must, but live and shop in our town.” I will do my best to make East Petersburg a better place to live, shop and work, and I look forward to meeting each of you in 2010 and beyond as we move forward into a new decade.
All the best,
Jeff Geoghan
