The East Petersburg Youth Baseball & Softball Association promotes, organizes, operates and maintains recreational baseball and softball programs for the benefit of the youth of East Petersburg and the surrounding communities. An 8 member (volunteer) Board of Directors handles the various tasks that ensure the programs operate smoothly. These eight directors and countless other volunteers are the main reason that the baseball and softball program in East Petersburg has grown tremendously over the last few years. The commitment by the East Petersburg Borough Council to build an additional ball field next to the existing field at the East Pete Pool complex assures the children of East Petersburg adequate places to play ball for years to come. The programs provided by the association give children a great opportunity to either play on competitive travel teams or to participate on instructional teams. In 2004 over 200 children (boys ages 4 to 16 and girls ages 4 to 18) participated on 24 teams in the recently completed spring/summer season. Teams also participate in local fall baseball and softball leagues.
Attention all travel baseball players/ parents of players for travel baseball:
Recently you may have heard about rule changes banning most composite bats. For 2011, the Lancaster County Youth Baseball League will not be changing any rules related to bats. Starting January 1,2012, bats must comply with the BBCORE standards for larger barrel bats (high school or U14 level) and Little League standard 1.5 for the 2 and 1/4 inch barrel bats. These registrations will be stamped or printed on the bat. Please be aware that the bat you buy in 2010 or 2011 will probably not be a legal bat in 2012. Therefore, please spend your money wisely.
