Boy Scout Troop #33 of East Petersburg

The Throwing Bull Tribe of the Pennsylvania Dutch Council, Boy Scouts of America is a group of Scouters who have dedicated themselves to raising funds and donating those funds, their time and their talents to improving the two council scout camps, Bashore Scout Reservation in Lebanon County and J. Edward Mack Scout Reservation in Lancaster County. All the efforts put forth by these gentlemen benefit the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts who use these facilities. In order for our group to continue assisting these scouts we need your help. Every year in May the tribe holds their annual chicken barbeque, which is our largest fundraising event each year.

On my honor I will do my best...

For over 75 year, East Petersburg Boy Scouts have been promising their families, their community and themselves to adhere to the positive values that Boy Scouts teaches. The founder of Boy Scouts once said,
"A nation owes its success not so much to its strength in armaments, as to the amount of character in its citizens."

The Scouting program has three aims:  character development, citizenship training, and personal fitness. The Boy Scouts of America want to develop American citizens who are physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight. Scouting instills a high degree of self-reliance, initiative, courage and resourcefulness, while demonstrating the value of responding to the needs of others. Scouting offers a structured setting in which boys can learn new skills, participate in leadership roles, gain self-confidence through advancement, become knowledgeable about the principles of American Citizenship, gain a respect for the rights of all people, and above all, develop habits of continual learning that will help them succeed in our society.

For over 75 years Troop 33 has focused on building a better community of citizens - one boy at a time. The scouts are involved in such civic programs as the Annual Adopt-A-Highway, food drives, East Pete Rotary activities, SOARS (supplies sent overseas to our servicemen and women), recycling programs (Christmas Tree chipping), environmental clean-ups, and all Eagle Rank service projects.

For over 75 years Troop 33 has been having fun too! Summer camp, hiking the Appalachian Trail, winter camping, skiing, tubing, and biking through Gettysburg are just some of the activities the scouts have enjoyed. A trip to the High Adventure Scout Reservation in Philmont, New Mexico was a special highlight for the scouts this year.

...to do my duty
to God and my country,
and to obey the Scout law,
to help other people at all times,
to keep myself physically fit,
mentally awake, and morally straight.

East Petersburg Troop 33 welcomes boys who have earned the Arrow of Light Award in Cub Scouts or have completed fifth grade of who are 11 through 17 years old. For 75 years we've been having fun - come join us!

Scout Law
