COMMITTEES, BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS
Zoning Hearing Board
This is a three-member board appointed by Borough Council. The Zoning Board is a quasi-judicial board that receives its authority from the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code. The Board conducts formal hearings on zoning variances, special exceptions, interpretations and appeals. The primary purpose is to help assure fair and equitable applications and administration of the Zoning Ordinance.
Recreation Board
This is a eleven-member board also appointed by Borough Council. Its main purpose is to oversee the operations of the community swimming pool. Many hours of volunteers are needed to keep the pool in its pristine condition. The pool is self supporting through memberships and daily admission fees. The exception to this is major capital improvements to the facility which are underwritten or financial supported by the Borough.
Planning Commission
This is a five-member commission appointed by Council to act as an independent voice representing the overall interests of the Community. They review rezoning requests, sewer extension plans, any subdivision or land development plans. They are governed by the rules and regulations in the Zoning Ordinance and the Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance.
