A seven member Borough Council and Mayor govern Adamstown Borough.

Each are elected for 4-year terms.  The Council and Mayor oversee the operation of the Borough.

Borough Council has the legislative responsibility of reviewing and adopting budgets and new ordinances (laws), as well as giving final approval to development plans and major capital purchases.  Other duties include appointing citizens to the various boards,

acting as legislative liaison to boards and committees, and providing legislative oversight to “Council-Adopted” programs.

The Borough Office and meeting room are located at the corner of Route 272 and South Poplar Street. Council holds regular monthly meetings on the first Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm.The public is always invited and encouraged to attend these meetings.

Public meetings for Council, as well as the other boards (Planning and Zoning) and any new or changing ordinances are posted on the bulletin board in the foyer of the Borough building.  Legal advertisements are published in the Reading Eagle.
