General Information

  • Taxes must be filed and paid based on their filing/payment frequency.
  • The taxpayer is responsible for making sure the payment has posted on time relative for the chosen payment choice.  To verify payment deadlines, visit the Treasurer’s Website.
  • Payment plans are not available online and must be processed in the Treasurer's Office. Partial payments will not be accepted. Full payment only.
  • Funds must be drawn from a United States bank account.
  • The County of Lancaster serves as the real estate (not income) tax collector for 36 of our municipalities. See the Treasurer’s Website for a complete list of which taxes are collected by local tax collector or the County of Lancaster. All other municipalities need to contact their municipality tax collector.
  • We apologize for the inconvenience, but online payment options are not yet available to East Lampeter Township residents. A court order has provided Lancaster County with very specific instructions on how to handle accepting payments for the East Lampeter taxing district and online payment options are not approved for the 2017 tax cycle. 
  • In the case of a returned payment, you will be notified. Fees for processing will incur.
  • Taxes may be paid at the Treasurer’s Office, via mail, or online.

  • Online Tax Claim payments will be turned off 
    • approximately one week before June 30, 2017
    • approximately one week before the scheduled Upset Tax Sale (September 18, 2017)
    • approximately one week before Continued Upset & Judicial Tax Sale (Nov. 20, 2017)
    • approximately one week before Claims and Collections end of year settlement (December 31, 2017)

Payment Methods

  • Pay in person at the Treasurer’s Office

    • The Treasurer’s Office is located at the Lancaster County Government Center, 150 North Queen Street, 1st floor, Lancaster, PA 17603 Monday – Friday, from 8:30am-4:30pm (except for County Holidays).
    • Payments in the form of cash, money order or checks made out to Lancaster County Treasurer are accepted.
    • Returned checks are subject to a $25 NSF fee in the Treasurer’s Office and $50 NSF Fee in the Tax Claims.

  • Mail-in Payment

    • Mail-in payments must be in the form of check or money order.  No cash will be accepted.
    • Mail payments to: PO BOX 1447 Lancaster, PA 17608   Please send with your payment stub (remittance copy). If you do not have that, you should list your account number and parcel number with address on their check.
    • Treasurer’s payments must be postmarked on/before the payment due date. Tax Claim payments must be paid before the beginning of the new month (prior to interest accruing) and the Tax Claim bureau does not honor the postmarked date.
    • Returned checks are subject to a $25 NSF fee in the Treasurer’s Office and $50 NSF Fee in the Tax Claims.

  • Online Payment

    • This Online Payment was created as a service to give Lancaster County Property Owners additional tax payment options.
    • Lancaster County Government has worked diligently to ensure that the information contained in this electronic document is accurate.
    • Taxes paid online will be charged to your credit card within 24 hours. It can take up to 4 business days for your tax record to be updated with the tax office. Users may call the Treasurer’s Office at 717.299.8222 if verification is needed prior to that time. 
    • The Property Assessment Office makes no warranty or guarantee concerning the accuracy or reliability of the content at this site or any other sites to which we link. 
    • Determining the accuracy and reliability of this information is the responsibility of the user.
    • The Lancaster County Property Assessment Office shall not be liable for errors contained herein or for any damages in connection with the use of the information contained herein.

    • Lancaster County is not responsible for any unauthorized access to your personal information.  The user hereby shall forever waive, release, indemnify and hold harmless Lancaster County, its Commissioners, County Judge, assigns, officers, employees, agents and representatives from and against any and all losses, damages, injuries, causes of action, claims, demands, and liabilities related to this transaction. Please “log off” completely and close your browser at the end of your transaction! Failure to do so may allow another user to access your personal information.
    • You are using the Online Bill Payment option of your free will. The vendor which processes the payment works to provide comprehensive protection from data breach and the County of Lancaster is not responsible should that occur.
    • This system only works best using Google Chrome, but is supported in most major browsers.  Issues may occur due to specific browser settings such as having websites blocked.

There are three methods to pay online –via e-check, debit, or credit card.

    • E-check

      • A flat convenience fee of $1.75 will be charged to the user when using e-check as a form of payment.  You will need the routing number, account, check number, and amount of payment
    • Debit Card

      • Debit payments using Visa only.  A charge of $3.95 will be added to your transaction.
    • Credit Card

      • Credit card payments from MasterCard, Visa, Discover, and American Express are also accepted. A convenience fee of 2.50% of the bill will be charged to the customer.  A minimum of fee of $1.95 will be charged.
        • Example 1:  if the payment made is $100.00, a charge of $100 x %2.50 which is $2.50 will be added to the bill, so the total bill would be $102.50.
        • Example 2: if the payment is $50.00, a charge of $50 x $2.50 would be $1.25, so the minimum fee of $1.95 would apply and the total charge would be $51.95.
        • Please note that if you are paying by credit card to keep your property from going to tax sale, you must call and confirm with the Tax Claim Bureau that the window to pay delinquent taxes via credit card has not expired. Tax Claim Bureau: 717.299.8232
